Parque Rural de Anaga
Anaga proves that Tenerife has much more to offer than the beach and the sea.
This is a place for people who like to get lost in fairy-like forests.
The green mountains provide a fresh appearance.
The mountain passes with the highest point of 1024 m and provides a beautiful view over the whole island.
There are various viewpoints along the entire route where it is worthwhile to enjoy the panoramas and to take some pictures.
When visiting Anaga you’ll realize why the green forests are part of the Unesco heritage. To walk around in this protected nature and enjoy the special fauna and flora, you'll need permission.
It is possible for every hiker to request a permit from Tenerife tourism,this to protect rare plants.
However, if you have not previously applied for a permit, you can still take a hike from "Chamorga".
This hike is also accompanied by a fairytale feeling.
As shown on the map, you’ll walk upwards from the church of Chamorga
"El Draguillo" about 2,7 kilometers (1,1 miles).
During the hike, you should follow the painted white-yellow "flags".
Provide warmer clothing and sturdy footwear for this walk.
From 4 pm the sun sets in the Anaga Mountains and the fog can rise quickly.
At the bottom, you can find a map with the walking route.
The shortest route is from "Chamorga" to "Cruz del Draguillo" and then return on the same route.

If you walk the protected area of the Anaga mountains without a permit, you can risk a fee of €601,01 (£541,46).
